| Kol Shofar: An Introduction |
Congregation Kol Shofar, Marin Countys conservative synagogue, is a vibrant and progressive center of Jewish life, with a growing community of about 600 Bay Area families.
Kol Shofar is your place to form meaningful connections, to access Jewish education for you and your family and to celebrate and discover the joys of Jewish life in a spiritually dynamic community.
We believe that the role of the synagogue is to support each individual and family in their exploration of Jewish tradition and their personal search for Jewish meaning. We also encourage the examination of Jewish spiritual practices that guide us in establishing a mature relationship with God. We hope people will be inspired to grow spiritually and engage Jewish ritual and religious practice.
Because we recognize the importance of functioning as part of a community, we expect that when we gather for Kol Shofar events, everyone will honor our traditions and observances, which are guided by the teachings of the Conservative movement as interpreted by our rabbis.
We strive to be a community that cherishes and embodies the values of intimacy and loving care and that deeply touches the lives of its members and responds to their heartfelt needs.
We extend our warm welcome to all Jews and non-Jews alike who wish to be a part of our community. Our congregation provides a welcoming environment for interfaith families and embraces all individuals regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
We believe Jewish life is meant to be joyous and celebratory. We are dedicated to creating the joyful experiences that shape positive Jewish memories.
We pride ourselves on being a highly participatory community. We encourage our members to take active roles in leading our services and in other areas of ritual and worship, and provide educational opportunities so that congregants of all ages can learn to do so.
We encourage the full participation of our children and youth in the life of our community and dedicate ourselves to educating and serving them through our religious school and youth programming.
We are passionately committed to the State of Israel and urge our members to support Israel in all possible ways. We encourage people to learn about, visit and when possible, to study there, as well as make financial contributions. We encourage dialogue and active engagement in all issues connected to Israel.
