TALMUD STUDY

with Howard Schwartz and Ron Brown
Tuesdays, 8:00 AM

http://4wdesign.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/talmud.jpgKol Shofar is now the proud owner of the full 73 volume set of the Schottenstein Talmud, currently housed on our Beit Midrash/Library bookshelves. This incredible collection was a gift to the synagogue by the entire Talmud Study group, along with a generous anonymous donor.  Please come by and take a look at these magnificent volumes. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Schottenstein Talmud, it is, as far as I know, the most thoroughly annotated English translation of the Babylonian Talmud available in print. These volumes make the study of our Oral torah accessible to anyone who wants to read how the sages interpreted and developed the Jewish ideas, mitzvot and practices that define and serve as the basis for our understanding of Judaism today.

I would like to offer any of you, who are interested, the opportunity to come study with our group. We meet most every Tuesday from 8:00 - 9:00 AM, following morning minyan. On June 21st, we will be likely beginning a new topic, if you want to get in on a section of study from the start.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of previous experience with Talmud.  We study as a group, and our discussions are as broad and deep as the Talmud itself.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call or e-mail me.  Of course to reap the full benefit of study, one should pray first at the morning minyan at 7:15.
