Teen Tu B’Shevat Seder
Wednesday, February 8, 6:30-8:30 PM
A lively and fun-filled interactive eco-centered Tu B’Shevat Seder that will be created by the teens of our new Eco Judaism Class. We will take class outside for a “Progressive Seder” that utilizes the new garden, meditation grove and other areas of the Synagogue grounds. Free. Purim Purim Services and Celebrations

Wednesday, March 7
Get out your costumes and greggers (noise makers), have some fun, and hear the whole megillah! It’s Purim at Kol Shofar, and there’s something for everyone.
5-6 PM: Young family Purim celebration (infants through Second Grade) with music, stories, and crafts
6 PM: Purim Seudah (festive dinner) for kids, teens, adults.

6:45 PM: Megillah reading, costume parade, and fun for all ages
7:30-9 PM: Teen only costume party

Please bring non-perishable foods to donate and fulfill the Purim mitzvah of gifts to the needy.

Kol Shofar was established in the 60's when Chubby Checkers taught us how to do the twist, Elvis Presley crooned his heart out, Cousin Brucie was on the radio and we were in the midst of Beatlemania. Don't miss this year’s musical extravaganza starring our talented kids and adults.

A community wide joyous celebration! Bring friends to visit the Kol Shofar booth and get membership and program information as well as a fancy face painting, schmooze with new and old friends and watch Kol Shofar perform an excerpt from our wild Purim Spiel.
Yom Ha'Shoah
Annual Yom Hashoah Commemoration
Thursday April 19, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Join the Marin Community at Congregation Kol Shofar for this very important prayer service as we pause to remember the Six Million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Hear first hand stories from local survivors and join us as we pledge as a community to never forget. Open to the entire community.
Passover Sundown April 6 – Sundown April 14
The 2nd night of Passover falls on Saturday evening April 7. We will not be holding a Passover Seder at Kol Shofar.  However it is customary to invite a stranger to the Seder, we encourage your to set an extra seat or two at your own Seder table and invite someone to share your food and ritual. If you have an extra seat at your table or are looking for a seat, please contact Sharon Brusman by April 1st so that we can make as many matches as possible. Look for your Chametz form in the mail.
 
Women of the Haggadah-Making the Invisible Visible
with Sara Kupor, Early Childhood and Jewish Educator
Sunday, March 11, 11 AM – Noon
Using ancient and contemporary midrashim (Rabbinic stories), we will learn what the six women (visible and invisible) in the Haggadah teach us through their ideals and actions regarding such issues as affirming life, non-violent resistance to tyranny, sexuality and the will to survive and the healing joy of celebration.

Explore Ensemble Acting Through Story-telling about Passover

How can I bring more of my true nature into everything I do?
The essential elements of acting aren’t limited to the theater. We all need to learn how to think on our feet, embrace our creative ideas, and listen attentively in our professional and personal lives. Use your stories of Passover we will use theater improvisation games, vocal training, song and movement to gain expressiveness, expand self-confidence and learn how to embrace our strong choices effortlessly. You will emerge with a greater sense of self and your place in your community. This class is suitable for all skill levels. Dress to move and get ready to have fun!

Debórah Eliezer brings over 17 years of professional training to her teaching, and has a passion for nurturing the hidden talents in her students and helping them reach their goals. An actor, director, choreographer, and professional voiceover, she has been a member of the award-winning foolsFURY Theater for 8 years, and maintains a private coaching practice.
 
Interfaith Chocolate Seder
For Youth in grades 4 - 12

Everyone’s favorite event is back and bigger than ever!  The Chocolate Seder is one of the MIC (Marin Interfaith Council) Youth Leader’s Highlighted events of the year and we are inviting the whole youth community to learn more about our Pesach traditions through chocolate!!  So bring a friend and save room for dessert!

Community Tikkun Leil Shavuot

On Shavuot, the Israelites received the Torah on Mount Sinai. Come celebrate and learn with us! See up close the new Contemporary Jewish Museum Torah freshly scribed by Julie Seltzer as it makes its tour through the community. Join Congregations Rodef Sholom & Kol Shofar, and the Osher Marin JCC as we rejoice together.
