 Our Strategic Plan will guide us into the future. It will address: Who we are, what we value, where we are going, and what we must do to get there.
We are pleased to welcome Miriam Abrams, our Strategic Planning Consultant, and look forward to working with her over the next several months. Miriam was selected from a large group of capable candidates who responded to our Request for Proposals. We are delighted that Miriam will lead us through a journey of reflection and discovery to determine and plan for our future direction.
A Steering Committee has been formed to work with Miriam. Its job is to advise, ensure congregation-wide communication, and work with Miriam in the implementation of the various phases of our planning process. Its name is "Masa" which, means" journey".

Five MASA think tanks are being formed to address each of the five strategic planning focus areas that were developed based on input from our January Community Meeting:
1. Life Long Learning (and education)
2. Community building, social activities and in-reach
3. Identity (being a Conservative Jewish-identified synagogue; ritual and services; collaboration with other Marin Jewish organizations)
4. Outreach to unaffiliated Marin Jews
5. Revenue building

THANK YOU to the more than 100 congregants who came to the MASA community meeting and to everyone who filled out a survey and/or came to a focus group.
Our meeting exemplified the best of Kol Shofar - fun, meaningful and and filled with ruach. We enthusiastically envisioned the future of Kol Shofar and developed concrete issues to address in our MASA strategic planning process to make our vision a reality. Based on the input at the community meeting and response forms, MASA committee has developed the following focus areas for the strategic planning process:
- Life Long Learning (and education) Community building, social activities and in-reach
- Identity (being Conservative Jewish-identified synagogue; ritual and services; collaboration with other Marin Jewish organizations)
- Outreach to unaffiliated Marin Jews
- Revenue building
- We'll be forming "think tanks" (previously known as workgroups) to develop inspiring, innovative and realistic short term and long term strategies in each of these areas. Each think tank will include the following foundational elements in their strategies:
- Ensure all age groups are considered
- Ensure ruach, fun and meaningful are interwoven in the strategies
- Build relationship and connection
- Tikkun Olam is incorporated as a part (large or small as appropriate) of the strategies
- Built with knowledge and consideration of Kol Shofar's history
- Collaboration with other Jewish (and where appropriate non Jewish organizations.)
